Bathroom zones, in plain English

Wiring regulations split a bathroom into zones around the bath and shower, and every fitting must be rated for its zone — that’s why you can’t just hang any pendant over a bath. We choose and position fittings so the design you want is also the design that’s legal and safe, and we’ll flag it early if something won’t comply.

Renovation timing — get the electrician in early

The cheapest time to move a socket is before the tiles go on. We do a walk-through at design stage, first-fix once the room is stripped, and second-fix after tiling and decoration — coordinated with your builder so nothing holds the job up.

Kitchen & Bathroom Electrics — your questions

Can I have sockets in a bathroom?

Only shaver sockets within the zones, and standard sockets must be at least 2.5 metres from the bath or shower edge — which rules them out of most London bathrooms. We’ll advise on compliant alternatives like in-cabinet charging points.

Does my new kitchen need its own circuits?

Ovens and hobs above 2kW should have dedicated circuits, and a modern kitchen usually justifies separate ring or radial circuits for appliances and sockets. If your consumer unit has no spare ways, we’ll tell you before the kitchen is ordered, not after.

Do you fit extractor fans?

Yes — ducted through wall, ceiling or window, with timer or humidity control. A properly sized fan is the difference between a bathroom that dries out and one that grows mould.
